Happily Ever After (also known as Snow White: Happily Ever
After) is a 1993 American animated film created by Filmation. The story is an
unofficial sequel to the fairy tale of Snow White. Aside from Snow White
herself, the prince she falls in love with, the magic mirror, and the
references to the wicked queen, all of the characters in Happily Ever After are
unique to this film. Filmation had previously developed a plan to create a
series of direct-to-video sequels to popular Disney motion pictures, but only
this film and Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night were ever completed. The
film was eventually released during the same summer that Walt Disney's Snow
White and the Seven Dwarfs was re-released theatrically; sued by Disney, Filmation
promised their character would not resemble the ones from the Disney version.
An unreleased NES video game had been also planned in 1990 but a Super NES
version of the video game was released four years later (a year later after the
film's release).
